Although screens have been a mandatory part of every camera and camcorder for several decades now, they do not provide a very accurate view of the recorded frame. Preview monitors, which in addition to their larger size also offer a number of features useful during filming, are of great assistance in this regard. Unlike built-in screens, they are equipped with specialized software that assists with framing, focusing or setting aspect ratio. They frequently guarantee excellent color reproduction in the image and provide touch control or the use of LUT tables as options. A camera and camcorder preview monitor should be included in the equipment of every aspiring filmmaker.
