On July 22-25, in the former sugar factory in Żnin, in charming, industrial interiors, the 13th Meetup of the Optyczne.pl readers took place. At our stands and during the workshops, we hosted fans of photography and film, interested in Godox lighting.

Demonstrations and tests

In addition to trying out photographic equipment, lighting, and Godox modifiers, visitors also had the opportunity to rent and test devices in the vast area of the former sugar factory in Żnin.

Among the products presented at the Godox stand, you could find well-known and popular solutions, such as V1 flashguns and AD200Pro, but also many new products, such as the compact AD100Pro. Those interested could take a closer look at the TL30 LED light tubes, which are increasingly popular in photography, as well as the superb set for the most demanding customers - AD1200Pro.

The Godox stand was very popular. Visitors had a great opportunity to exchange experiences, talk about new equipment or a new, more compact Godox mount. In addition to casual conversations in a friendly atmosphere, a significant group of people were photographers expecting specific equipment  advice, who were at the stage of completing their own flash equipment, often for the first time in their photographic career.

Workshops and testing equipment in practice

On Saturday, there was also the long-awaited practical element of the meetup, i.e. workshops under the supervision of Robert Majewski, an experienced and respected in the industry, fashion, and product photographer. While using Godox flashes the participants could try their hand at a rather unusual variety of portrait photography, which is a sports portrait. In his commercial sessions, Robert uses and benefits from the Godox system during his commercial sessions, which is why he was able to quickly and specifically indicate to the participants the most important features of Godox flashes, such as:

  • High compatibility (X 2.4G System receivers built into the lamps, thanks to which one transmitter can group and control many flashes at the same time.
  • Stable flash power and temperature facilitating subsequent post-production.
  • The mobility of the AD series (from the small AD100Pro to the AD1200Pro, which despite its great power is still a mobile solution).
  • A short flash duration allows you to freeze the movement.

Freeze the movement with Godox flashes!

Sport is inextricably linked with movement, usually fast and dynamic. The use of flashes that guarantee a short flash duration, fast recycle rate, as well as high mobility allowed to make the sports session pleasant and full of many well-captured moments.

In order for everyone to have enough space and time to catch an interesting shot, the participants were divided into 4 groups. Each of them started their session with a short technical introduction to know what to focus on and how to approach the challenge from the technical side. After a short introduction, it's time for the first stop of the photographic adventure. Cool, industrial interiors of the sugar factory allowed to emphasize the sports form of the model (@agata.wendorff) in action, which included jumping, running, and other exercises.

To add more creativity to the photos, color filters were installed on the lamps, thanks to which the scene was enriched with an original mood. To freeze the movement, QT-400 and QT-600 flash were used, which guarantee a super-fast flash duration of only 1 / 28984s at minimum power. The key light was shaped by the SB-GUSW6090 softbox. A grid was also used so that the light shines precisely on the model without affecting the background exposure.

When each participant was satisfied with the captured shot, it was time to move the set outside. When shooting outdoors, it is most convenient to use portable and powerful flash units. The AD1200Pro, which, thanks to its power, made it possible to shoot in full sun, as well as smaller devices such as the AD300Pro and AD100Pro, which were perfect for the role of the back light. The model continued to show dynamic poses, this time jumping rope.

During the photo session, the lecturer revealed many tricks on how to get the best results from working with flash units. Satisfied with their shots, the participants stated that working with flash light gives them access to many creative possibilities. During the session, participants had access to Godox transmitters for each of the systems on the market. Technical support was also provided and no technical question was left unanswered.

The last day of the meetup was spent on summaries, returns of the rented equipment, and selecting the best photos among the participants. The craft beer, specially prepared by Godox for the participants of the meetup, also turned out to be a great success. Certainly, it was the event that many people will think back to, and will encourage them to perform a sports session on their own, using Godox lamps.
